R5 Alpine / Turbo / GT Turbo

A little history about the Renault 5 Alpine Atmo and Renault 5 Alpine Turbo

The R5 Alpine atmo (R1223) was introduced in 1976 as a sporty version of the Renault R5 (R1220), a compact model launched in 1972. Designed to offer increased performance while retaining the practical design of the Renault 5, the R5 Alpine was distinguished by its sporty characteristics and a more powerful engine. The Renault 5 Alpine atmo offered a dynamic and responsive ride. Its sports suspension and aerodynamic improvements, such as the front spoiler and side skirts, reinforced its sporty character. In 1980, the range was expanded with the R5 Alpine Turbo (R122B), an even more powerful version. It offered exceptional performance and achieved great success in rallying, consolidating the sporting reputation of the R5 Alpine and was replaced by the Renault Clio.
