Installation orientation: The end with the two closest-spaced holes is installed on the inspection plate side (opposite the water pump).

Tube orientation: The holes must be aimed towards the valve seats at a 30° angle from the vertical.

The thermal gasket insulates the carburetor from engine heat, thereby limiting vapor lock issues.
